Matthew J. Bietz

Matthew J. Bietz Matthew Bietz is an Assistant Project Scientists in the University of California, Irvine Department of Informatics and an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan School of Information, and conducted postdoctoral research with Charlotte P. Lee at the University of Washington.

His research focuses on the design and use of collaboration technologies in distributed knowledge work. Recent projects include a study of the development of large-scale database and analysis platforms for the nascent field of metagenomics. He has also studied the development of cyberinfrastructure and middleware at national supercomputing centers. Currently, he is working on the Collaboration Success Wizard, and a study of trust in distributed software engineering with David Redmiles' CRADL lab.
